HOW TO ASSIGN A U.S. DOLLAR VALUE TO NON-DENOMINATED FINE SILVER ROUNDS
Due to language contained in the U.S. Constitution, privately-minted 0.999 fine silver rounds do not carry a legal-tender U.S. Dollar amount stamped on them. They only state the weight and purity of the silver they contain. The U.S. Dollar value you will assign to them for customer purchases is based upon that day’s current one troy ounce spot price of silver, which is readily available online and is also published in many daily newspapers.
The spot price of silver has remained consistently in the $20.00 – $25.00 range the last two years. Saco Bay Citizens for Sound Money recommends that as a merchant or a customer, you assign a U.S. dollar value of $30.00 to one-troy ounce silver rounds, based upon the above spot price range.
Fractional silver rounds (i.e. one-half, one-quarter and one-tenth ounce fine sliver rounds) would be valued accordingly at one-half, one-quarter and one-tenth the U.S. $30.00 value of the one troy ounce round (i.e. $15.00, $7.50 and $3.00 respectively).
FINE SILVER ROUND SIZE | US DOLLAR VALUE ASSIGNED |
ONE-OUNCE | $30.00 |
ONE-HALF OUNCE | $15.00 |
ONE-QUARTER OUNCE | $7.50 |
ONE-TENTH OUNCE | $3.00 |
Should the spot price of silver rise significantly above the $20.00 – $25.00 range it has remained at for some time now, the $30.00 assigned U.S. dollar value amount can be adjusted upward as needed to accommodate the higher acquisition costs of fine silver rounds for both customers and merchants. This flexibility shows how fine silver rounds hold their value as the value of the fiat U.S. dollar continues to fall!
This pricing model is unfortunately necessary at this time as we navigate the transition process back to U.S. Mint-issued gold and silver coinage as our actual, circulating U.S. money, since the current fiat Federal Reserve Note U.S. dollar keeps losing value, as the Fed regularly inflates the supply of these “dollars” in circulation in the economy. The above pricing model will reimburse you as a customer or a merchant fairly for the actual costs your were charged by private mints and dealers to purchase their fine silver rounds, as well as assuring you of a current market-value for the products you sell to customers.
Thank you for your efforts to help restore sound money to our nation!
